New Station Construction Underway
The Amtrak station at Schenectady, New York (SDY) will be closed and demolished as part of a New York State Department of Transportation-funded project to construct a new station facility. This comprehensive project involves building demolition, track work, water remediation, platform reconstruction and the construction of a new station. As a result, the following changes will take place:
Limited station operations are available at a temporary facility located next to the old station at the corner of Liberty Street and Erie Boulevard.
Passengers are encouraged to be dropped off and picked up, as limited parking is available.
Passengers should plan to arrive no more than 30 minutes before train departure. There is no waiting room at the temporary facility. Restrooms are available.
Ticketing and Amtrak Express services are not available.
Amtrak personnel are available to assist customers checking baggage. Overweight and excess baggage or any baggage requiring a service charge will not be available at the temporary Schenectady facility.
Walk-on bicycle reservations must be prepaid before arriving at the station.
Closest Station Offering Ticketing and Full Baggage Services
Passengers who require ticketing and full baggage services can make reservation to board at the Albany-Rensselear station located 18 miles southwest of the temporary facility.
