How much does the application cost?
The Amtrak applications are free to download and use.
What if I lose my phone? Is my information safe?
We recommend using a security PIN or fingerprint to prevent access to personal information if your phone becomes lost. If someone gains access to your phone and you are logged into your Amtrak account, purchases cannot be made without also having your credit card information, but they would be able to see and potentially modify reservations.
Can I use this app without a network connection?
If you lose connection, you will not be able to complete transactions, but will still be able to see upcoming reservations, access your eTicket, and view other important information. In order to maintain the most accurate information and access all functionality, a cellular or WiFi network connection is required.
What if I lose my network connection during a transaction?
You won't be able to continue without a network connection. If you aren't sure if your transaction completed, check your email and home screen. If your purchase did complete before you lost the connection you will receive an email and the changes will appear on your home screen.
Is a Blackberry or Windows Phone version available?
Blackberry and Windows phone customers can visit http://m.amtrak.com to access the Amtrak mobile website. There is no Amtrak app version for these phone types.
Will the application work on my iPad?
Where do I get the Amtrak app for my iPhone or iPad?
The application is available in Apple's App Store®. Search for Amtrak. The app will run on iOS version 9 or higher.
Where do I get the Amtrak app for my Android device?
The application is available in Google Play. Simply search for Amtrak. The app will run on Android version 5.0 or higher
I have the old version of the app. How do I get the new re-designed version?
- If you have your device set to automatically update apps, tapping on the Amtrak app icon will automatically launch the new version.
- If you manually update apps on your device:
- You can manually update the app in the app store for your device.
- You will be required to upgrade at a future date.
What kinds of tickets can I purchase through the application?
You can purchase one-way, roundtrip and multi-ride tickets. Multi-city and Auto Train are not supported. Visit Amtrak.com to purchase these types of tickets.
Will I get an email confirmation for purchases and changes made using the application?
Yes. You are required to provide an email address as part of the booking and you will receive an email confirmation.
How do I get tickets for reservations booked through the application?
Customers who book reservations through the application will receive their ticket directly in the app as a conductor-scannable eTicket.
Managing My Reservation
Can I store my eTicket using a wallet app?
Amtrak supports Apple wallet. On an iOS device, once you’ve booked a reservation you will see an Add to Apple Wallet button on the confirmation screen. Tap the button to download your eTicket to the wallet. If you want to download it at a later time, you can also find the button on the reservation details screen.
How do I use a discount such as Senior or NARP?
When making a reservation you will see a passenger information screen that requests information such as your name and address. On this screen, you can also add a discount such Military, Senior or NARP.
I made a reservation on Amtrak.com and it shows on my Amtrak app home screen when I’m logged in. If I’m logged in on the app and make a reservation, I can only see it on the App and not on Amtrak.com.
Reservations made on the Amtrak app will not automatically show on your profile on Amtrak.com. You can look up the reservation on Amtrak.com under “Modify,” by providing the reservation number and the email address or phone number. Amtrak is working on a solution to include Amtrak app reservations on your Amtrak.com profile.
I made a reservation that does not automatically display on the app when I’m logged-in on the home screen.
You can look up reservations on the app home screen by providing the reservation number and the email address or phone number.
I made a reservation on Amtrak.com and changed it in the Amtrak app. Amtrak.com continues to show the old information.
If a reservation is changed while logged in on the app, the changes can only be seen on the app and not on Amtrak.com. Amtrak is aware of this situation and we are working on a solution. Be assured that the reservation was changed.
Does it cost more to book using the app?
Tickets purchased through the application are the same cost as those purchased through other methods such as Amtrak.com.
My ticket info is wrong. How do I fix it?
Please call us at 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or TDD/TTY (1-800-523-6590).
What information is available about stations in the application?
Viewing the details of a station will provide a list of amenities, location, a link to maps and the hours of operation.
How do I set a station as a favorite?
In the application, when viewing a list of stations, you can tap the star to add or remove it from favorites.
Amtrak Guest Rewards
Can I use Amtrak Guest Rewards points to purchase tickets in the application?
Amtrak applications currently only accept credit cards for purchases. To purchase tickets using Amtrak Guest Rewards points, use Amtrak.com on your desktop or tablet.
Can I use Amtrak Guest Rewards coupons in this application?
Upgrade, discount and companion coupons can be applied via the app. Learn more at Amtrak.com/coupons.
Can I see my Amtrak Guest Rewards point balance? How?
The home screen shows you your status, available points and number of Tier Qualifying Points (TQPs) to the next level of status. Also, tapping on the Amtrak Guest Rewards link on the home screen will take you to the Amtrak Guest Rewards website where you can view your point balance, transactions and promotions.
Do I get my Amtrak Guest Reward points if I book through the application?
If you provide your Amtrak Guest Rewards number during the purchase process you will receive credit for your trip.
